JUNE

Thailand
Professor: Hank Delcore
Travel Dates: June 1 – June 22, 2005
Pre-trip Classes: May 23, 24, 25,26, 2005
Post-trip Class: June 29, 2005
Number of Students who may participate: Up to 14
What to expect: Students
will experience the lifestyle typical of most of Thailand’s
population by spending up to two weeks in a rural Thai village.
They will stay in pairs with a Thai host family who is excited to
share their way of life with students from America. Dr. Delcore and
his wife Suwanna will also stay in the village, which is not far
from the city, and totally accessible by paved roads. Although it
is a rural location, there is running water. Field trips will be
planned to various locations of interest within a few hours drive of
the village. Students will see first hand Thai systems of
agriculture, education, medicine and more. The trip will culminate
with a few nights in the big city of Chiang Mai.

What to expect: Students will visit Rome and hopefully have an opportunity to
participate in the Pope’s Sunday blessing in Saint Peter’s square.
There will also be many hours spent in the Vatican museum. Other
potential excursions may include a tour of Assisi, Naples and
Pompeii, as well as the famous Tower of Pisa. Students might have a
chance to visit to Florence, Sienna or Venice. However, travel
plans are still being finalized and the trip will be narrowed down
to two major cities in Italy. It is critical to note that the
dollar is not equally paired with the Euro, and student expenses for
this trip are expected to be quite high.
